Thursday, 04 March 2021_Former US Vice President Mike Pence has criticized the 2020 presidential election in his most extensive remarks since the Jan. 6 deadly protests at the Capitol.

Pence breaks silence on 2020 presidential electionsTies between former US President Donald Trump and Pence soured after the latter refused to acknowledge claims of a “stolen election” and took part in the process of certifying the electoral college victory of now-President Joe Biden in US Congress.

“After an election marked by significant voting irregularities and numerous instances of officials setting aside state election law, I share the concerns of millions of Americans about the integrity of the 2020 election,” Pence wrote in an op-ed published by the Daily Signal on Wednesday.

“That’s why when I was serving as presiding officer at the joint session of Congress certifying the Electoral College results, I pledged to ensure that all objections properly raised under the Electoral Count Act would be given a full hearing before Congress and the American people,” he added.

The former vice president also expressed regret about the Capitol events on Jan. 6, stressing that those events deprived the American people of a substantive discussion about election integrity in Congress.
