During his weekly press conference on Tuesday, Iranian Government Spokesman, Ali Rabiei urged US to return to nuclear deal unconditionally.
“We urge the White House to return to the table of JCPOA unconditionally and not to complicate the path to diplomacy”, Rabiei said.
“JCPOA was a turning point in Iran’s history, and the country managed to put an end to arbitrary sanctions while it preserved all the peaceful nuclear achievements, pride, dignity and territorial integrity” he said while adding that “In the in last four years it was Iran who kept the path of diplomacy open, and today it is on the shoulder of the US to take the first step.”
“After the US unilateral withdrawal from the deal, Iran has the upper hand both morally and legally and can defend the rights of the Iranian nation with reliance on the UNSC Resolution 2231,” Rabiei noted.
Elsewhere in his remarks he said “Today, many countries, in good faith, are trying to revive the accord,” while adding that “Because it is the only way to ensure world peace and it guarantees the interests of all countries, so it definitely, will be achieved in the near future.”
“Unlike the United States, Iran is ready to fulfill all its obligations as soon as possible” Rabiei highlighted.
“In the light of the efforts made by the Iranian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the IAEA Board of Governors decided to drop drafting an anti-Iran resolution in its recent meeting,” he noted.
“JCPOA is an internationally approved law and the US will have no way but to abide by the law,” he mentioned while referring to endorsement of the JCPOA by the UNSC Resolution 2231.
Finally, he referred to the threats made by the Zionist regime and said “The psychological insecurity of the region is a great benefit for the Zionist regime, and the regime may adopt some measures,” while pinpointing the fact that “Of course, we do not take the ridiculous threats of the Zionist regime seriously.”
