France has recalled its ambassadors to the two countries following consultations over the recent military agreement between the United States and Australia.
France also canceled a joint US-British celebration at the French embassy in Washington on Friday in protest of the announcement of a new defense cooperation agreement between the United States, Britain and Australia.
The celebration was scheduled to be held at the French Embassy on Friday to mark the 240th anniversary of the Battle of Cape. Part of the celebration was also scheduled to take place in the US port of Maryland.
The leaders of the United States, Britain and Australia signed an agreement on diplomatic, security and military cooperation across the Indo-Pacific region on Thursday morning. Australia's nuclear submarine program will be the first major project of the agreement. The agreement will help Australia acquire nuclear submarines.
