French Foreign Minister Jean-Yves Le Drian met with Iraqi President Barham Saleh on Thursday evening.
According to Reuters, the French Foreign Minister and the Iraqi President discussed bilateral relations and issues in the West Asian region during the meeting, which took place on the sidelines of the UN General Assembly in New York.
Le Drian also wrote on his Twitter page:
This evening, I had detailed and reassuring talks with Iraqi President Barham Saleh.
In the run-up to the Baghdad conference on 28 August and the foreign ministers' meeting in New York on 21 September, I reaffirmed France's support for Iraq and the regional talks.
