The Iranian Health Ministry spokesperson announced on Saturday that 10,843 new COVID-19 infections have been detected across the country in the past 24 hours 1,567 of which has been hospitalized.
“A sum of 10,843 COVID-19 infections and 280 deaths has been identified due to the disease in the past 24 hours” the spox said while adding that “This brings the total number of cases to 5,519,728.”
280 COVID patients have lost their lives in the past 24 hours that bring the total death toll 119,072,” the ministry added.
“6,411 people are being treated in ICUs in hospitals across the country, while 4,920,978 have already gained recovery,” the health ministry added.
The ministry also added that 31,653,798 coronavirus diagnosis tests have so far been carried out across the country while warning that “29 cities are rated red, 224 cities are orange, 165 cities are yellow, and 30 cities are blue.”
Iran has seen a major surge in the number of coronavirus deaths and infections in recent weeks as the Delta variant of the virus continues to spread across the country.
According to the latest figures, more than 232,027,107 people have so far been infected with the novel coronavirus globally, with the deaths standing 4,753,640 and recoveries amounting to 208,649,389.
