The British Counter-Terrorism Police officially declared yesterday the stabbing incident that led to the death of veteran British legislator David Amess a terrorist act.
New Scotland Yard metropolitan police said in a statement on Friday that initial investigations showed a potential motive for "Islamic extremism".
Police said in a statement:
A 25-year-old man was arrested immediately on suspicion of murder and a knife was found. He is currently in custody.
Officials told the British National News Agency that the man arrested on suspicion of killing Amess was a British Somali national.
According to Cihanan, British officials said they believed the suspect had acted alone and was not currently looking for anyone else involved in the incident. However, research into the details is ongoing.
