Friday, 4 March 2022 (YJC)_ Referring to the devastating consequences of the war between Russia and Ukraine, the Syrian Foreign Minister blamed Western governments for prolonging the war.

Al-Mekdad: Western governments are responsible for prolonging the Ukraine warOn the sidelines of a press conference in Damascus, Syrian Foreign Minister Faisal al-Mekdad stressed that Western governments were responsible for prolonging the conflict if the war in Ukraine continued.

In an exclusive interview with the Al-Manar website, he blamed the effects and results of the war on Ukraine, the loss of facilities and the destruction of the country's economy on the crimes of the West and the NATO alliance.

Expressing hope that the war will not continue, the Syrian Foreign Minister said:
Involvement of any other country in this conflict will harm its national interests and its international reputation; It is as if the people of the world will face these challenges if the war spreads and they will know friend and foe.

Faisal al-Mekdad further called the purpose of the American presence in eastern Syria an effort to continue the terrorist war in his country and added:
The same is true of Turkey's presence in northern Syria; This is because Ankara's support for the Qassad terrorist forces also pursues the goal of prolonging the war.

Earlier, at the start of the conflict, the Syrian presidency announced that Damascus had supported Moscow's position on the crisis with Ukraine.
