According to the Al-Quds Al-Arabi newspaper, the United Nations said in a statement that Guterres called Bint and Abbas to discuss efforts to reduce tensions, end provocations and unilateral measures, and restore calm.

Guterres also stressed the need to maintain and respect the status quo in the holy sites.

Occupied Quds and Al-Aqsa Mosque witnessed repeated attacks by Zionist militias and settlers on the holy mosque during the holy month of Ramadan, and more than a week ago, Zionist militias attacked Al-Aqsa Mosque and wounded more than 250 Palestinians.
